After staying one night at this park, my opinion about it changed a little bit. At first, I was turned off by the amount of permanenet residents living there (as their sites were NOT maintained very well and had quite a bit of stuff laying around), however, the staff was very friendly, the public grounds were adequately maintained, and the atmosphere was charming. I spoke to many of the park guests... no one had a negative thing to say about the park. The spaces are very narrow. One of the staff seemed put out by my truck being in the road DURING HOOKUP to leave, so this is why I rated the park as an 8. Otherwise, our stay was great!

I have actually stayed here many times. I purchased my fifth wheel here, and have enjoyed staying at the RV park ever since. It is across the street from Cabela's, and only ten minutes from downtown Austin, or the Univ of Texas campus. We have season tickets to Horns' games and so we stay at this park at least 7 times per year. We will not stay anywhere else! the people are friendly, the sites are kept clean, and the prices has always been fair. I cannot ask for more for what I am getting in return for my dollar. If you need help with anything, there is an RV parts store associated with the park, and a service department that is second to none.

Absolutely the worst RV park I have ever seen, or stayed. The staff is extremely rude. The grounds are poorly kept. The sites are far too close together and as far as I can tell, in thirty years, they have NEVER bothered to upgrade anything. Yes, it is very close to the beach, however, you will pay dearly for this - as the sounds at night are very loud. You will hear people shouting and a lot of vehicle traffic. The park was vandalized/robbed TWICE while I was there (once each night). We were asked to move our fifth wheel while we were there, however the staff failed to realize they were asking us to move into a site which was inadequate -from a 50amp service to a 30amp service... And once we pointed this out, they reluctantly gave us back our money. We promptly moved to another RV park Finally, there is no concrete to be found at On-The-Beach RV park, and each site is so close together that if the staff doesn't help you, you will not be able to maneuver the alleys/roads... much less park your trailer. Horrible is the best word I can use.

This RV park is HUGE... and for the most part - well-managed, however, the reason I rated it as a "6" is because some of the sites are older, and this is where they put us, and as a result, it was very difficult to get into, and extremely hard to get out of. And, during our stay, one of the permanent residents there was constantly "remodeling" his trailer and was parked in several adjacent slots. It was noisy, and treated as a junk-yard during our entire (7-day) stay. The staff were friendly, the pool well-kept, the hot tub well-managed, and overall, the property is nice. But, due to our "neighbors", this stay was not one of our better experiences.

This was our first RV park to stay at after purchasing our fifth-wheel, and we did not know how lucky we were at the time... We have since stayed at many different RV parks, and none have been as accomodating, friendly, or well-managed - since. The folks at Pioneer care about their customers. They take pride in each and every site, and they make sure your stay is as pleasant as it can be. The river is in full view from most of the sites. The swimming pool is always a joy. The Hot Tub is well-maintained. You can walk to town in five minutes and enjoy a hot meal. Well... I could go on and on... it is just the best RV park we stayed at to date.

For a casino RV park, this place is great! Well-managed. Friendly. Clean! I only stayed two nights, but it was worth it to be so close to the casino. You are given full access to the hotel grounds (just as if you were staying in the Casino Hotel). The pool is VERY nice, and the staff are always helpful. I had a little trouble with my trailer, and the staff went out of their way to make my repairs possible, and even gave me a place to stay while I had the trailer in the shop! I cannot say enough about each and every one of the staff members! The only down-side to the RV park is the lack of shade, and the location. It can get a bit noisy with the train tracks being so close...

Our stay was OK... The grounds/landscaping could use a definite upgrade. The staff were not rude to me, but I witnessed one of them yelling at another customer when it was unnecessary... We will probably not stay here again, but only because there are other RV parks nearby, and are in better locations (nearer to restaurants & shopping, and not as close to the Interstate). If you are looking for a one-nighter, this is your place.

I called this park at least one full month in advance to our trip. During our conversation, I was told that it is easy to walk from the park down to Central City (for a meal, or to gamble). I was also told that there is someone there every day. Not only was there no one there, they disappeared for three days during Christmas, and it had snowed at least 18 inches. No one plowed the parking lots, or bothered to even check to see if we were alive. Not only were we snowed in, but everything froze... No running water, etc. We ran out of propane just as they were opening their doors back up... I am glad my wife and I are young (in our 40's) and were able to walk, so we were able to get out of the snow and cold by walking the full mile and a half just to get something to eat (in below Zero Degree weather). It is a very hazardous walk down the mountain into town. There is no way I would ever recommend this site to anyone. They were never even concerned if we were alive... and they kept our money even though we had nothing but a snowed-in trailer to show for it (no running water, etc.) They finally plowed enough snow out of the way so we could just get the heck out of there before it got worse. It took them a full hour before it was plowed enough for me to use our snow chains and start down the hill. This park is NOT for everyone...
